Italian and French designers alike brought many bold looks to the runways of Paris Fashion Week. This year, we enjoyed watching a variety of dramatic styles grace the stages. Fashion designers teased us with samples of their Fall 2016 collections, featuring wonderful outfits including Victorian inspired romantic ensembles, sophisticated jumpers and glamorous capes. There seemed to be a new trend for everyone this year, but we challenged ourselves to narrow down our list to the top three styles.
Here are our favorite trends from Paris Fashion Week:
Fellow Italian, Giambattista Valli, designed a stunning dress that blends classic elegance with a modern charm. Featuring necklines and tiers trimmed by pleated, black fabric, the outfit alludes to the powerful styles of the Post-Romantic, Victorian-Era. The ruffles create a dramatic silhouette to the dress, which balance out the feminine touches of the soft lace and flower blossom prints.
Jump-Start Your Dress
We agree with Hannah Weil McKinley, who recently said, “Layering dresses over sweaters, blouses, and turtlenecks is now such a thing for Fall ’16, you’ll never think to wear your dress the same way ever again, turning them into sophisticated jumpers.” This approach to fashion will be perfect for any seasonal transition. Go ahead and get creative with your layers. Be sure to keep comfort, functionality and style at the forefront of your combinations!
Get ready to give your favorite coat a rest with an extremely stylish cape that keeps you warm while boosting your charm. We expect to see capes of all sizes come back in a big way this year. For example, this outfit by Chanel features dual bracelets, a long pearl necklace and a knitted cape that completes the look. These 90’s inspired hats are also beginning to return to the scene, but we think it would be best to prioritize finding the perfect fine jewelry to complete the look properly.
